Fort Wayne City To Pay For Majority Of 911 Operations
The city of Fort Wayne will pick up the vast majority of the tab on the 911 Center. According to an article in Saturday’s morning paper the Allen County Commissioners met and agreed to tweak the agreement they already had with the City. The agreement, which was set up back in 2010, had the City of Fort Wayne paying for 70% of the cost of the center and the county paying 30%. It is now going to be an 80-20 split. This is something the City has already signed off on and the reason for the change is call volume, the city has the vast majority of the calls therefore the vast majority of the bill. Also the state now sends money directly to the county to help with some costs, where before it went to the 911 commission and they divided it up.
