Around 9:40 a.m. the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the PNC Bank at 5610 Coventry Lane in reference to a bank robbery.  Witnesses reported that a male subject entered the bank and approached the counter with a note demanding cash from the teller.  The perpetrator then took off with an unknown of cash.  He fled westbound into a nearby residential area.  There were no customers inside the bank when the incident occurred, but there were several bank employees.  There were no injuries reported at the scene.

A canine unit tracked westbound from the bank, but the trail ended quickly.  Crime Scene Technicians remain at the scene at this time processing the scene for potential evidence, and members of the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force are presently interviewing witnesses.

The robber is being described as a male/white, thirty- to forty- years of age, weighing 200 to 250 pounds, with light facial hair described as having a red tint to it.  He was last seen wearing a striped hat, ski goggles with gold tint, something (possibly a scarf) around his neck, a black puffy coat, and black swishy pants with a white stripe along each pant leg.

Anyone knowing the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at 260 436-STOP (7867) where a cash reward is possible for information received.

In the meantime, the incident remains under investigation.
