State Police Issue Important Reminder to Drivers

After dealing with numerous spinouts, slide-offs and fender benders during our recent round of winter weather, Indiana State Police are issuing an important reminder... Move over!

State police says when you're behind the wheel and see emergency responders ahead of you or in your rear-view mirror you need to change lanes.

The law applies to not only police cars, but for ambulances, fire and rescue trucks, highway response vehicles, highway maintenance vehicles, utility service vehicles and tow trucks.

If for some reason you can't change lanes safely, you must reduce your speed to 10 mph slower than the posted speed limit.

Ignore the law, and you could face a stiff fine or have your license suspended for 2 years if you cause damage, injury or death.
