Just before 4:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to a single car crash on Tipton County Road 400 East near Tipton County Road 550 South, in which a man was found dead.

Investigators say the driver traveled off the road, down an embankment, and stopped in a drainage ditch containing approximately three feet of water.

The man was able to escape the wreckage and started to walk northbound on County Road 400 East. Approximately a half mile from the original crash scene, the 22-year-old man collapsed in the roadway and was later struck by a car and pronounced dead on the scene.
