South Bend man whose home was hit by plane never worried...
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A man whose roof was sheared off when a private jet crashed into his northern Indiana neighborhood says he's never worried about such a disaster in the 55 years he's lived near South Bend Regional Airport.
Eighty-four-year-old Frank Sojka said Tuesday he was in the front bedroom when he heard a loud noise. When he went to his living room, he could see the sky through the ceiling.
The private jet crashed Sunday near the South Bend Regional Airport, killing two men on board, including former Oklahoma University quarterback Steve Davis. Davis led Oklahoma to back-to-back national championships in the 1970s.
Figures from the National Transportation Safety Board show 200 planes have crashed into residential areas between 2003 and 2008, but none of those crashes occurred in South Bend.
