The 72,000-square-foot building includes 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom furnished apartments, a reception room and other amenities.

The site is near public transportation, shopping, schools, churches, banks, day care and small businesses that could employ residents.

South Shore Commons is scheduled for completion in December.
