TIPTON, Ind (WOWO): Tipton emergency personnel requested assistance from the Indiana State Police to help in emergency operations due to flooding in the city of Tipton and areas south of town over the weekend.
The Indiana State Police responded by deploying around 35 troopers and six boats.
Members also assisted several individuals in returning to their homes to retrieve needed items, like medication. They also helped the Tipton Fire Department in documenting flood damage by taking photos.
During the peak of the Tipton emergency, troopers manned flooded intersections and directed traffic.
“A swift and coordinated response among local emergency responders, USRT members, and road troopers helped prevent any loss of life or injuries,” stated ISP Sergeant Trent Smith, assistant commander for the Indiana State Police USRT. “We train and prepare waiting for our chance to help the citizens of Indiana when they need us the most.”
