Lawyer for Woman Serving 110 Years Seeks Plea Deal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The attorney for an Indianapolis woman serving 110 years for her role in the shotgun slayings of two roommates is seeking a plea deal that would free the woman from prison.
The attorney for Sarah Jo Pender is offering to have her plead guilty to assisting a criminal, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of eight years. Pender already has served 13 years.
The Indianapolis Star reports attorney Cara Weineke delivered a 40-page petition to prosecutors Wednesday seeking to overturn Pender's murder convictions.
The request is based on a so-called ``snitch list'' never given to defense attorneys that would have challenged the testimony of a key witness in Pender's trial. The retired deputy prosecutor who won Pender's convictions tells the Star he now believes she was wrongly convicted.
