According to the would be robbers family... the real criminal is the good samaritan.

“If [the customer's] life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him - what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?”

The family of the teen who held up the store argues their son was simply holding up a Family Dollar at gunpoint on a pleasant afternoon when a big ol' mean shopper -- who by the way had nothing to do with being taken hostage -- decided to interrupt his game and not mind his own business.

I can see why the family was angry -- the kid was shot five times.  But it was justified.  He was holding workers hostage at gunpoint... and who knows what else he had in mind.  PLUS the kid was out of bond for holding up another store just a few weeks earlier.

If it would of been a cop that shot this kid it would be the same story -- the family would have blamed the police.  And I'm just going to guess it would garner national attention because somehow someone would raise the race flag.

I just hope the good samaritan isn't financially ruined by lawsuits from the family.  Either way I hope the workers at that Family Dollar send him thank you cards every year for the rest of their lives.  They got to see what a true hero looks like.

But I think we all have some sort of blame "blind spot" where we overlook the obvious because it fits our own personal agenda.  It's just that some blind spots are bigger than others... and some choose to have them because right and wrong isn't enough.
