INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana conservation officers say they have rescued at least eight people following heavy rains across the state.
Officers say they rescued two sisters, ages 88 and 95, after one of them drove around a barricade and the vehicle became stalled on flooded Indiana 26 near Hartford City on Thursday. The women were treated for mild hypothermia.
Officers also made two rescues Wednesday night. A woman and two boys, ages 11 and 12, were rescued after her SUV stalled in high water in Brown County. Officers also rescued two women and a 3-year-old from a vehicle stranded in flood waters on a local road in in Lawrence County.
WTHR-TV reports emergency crews used a boat to ferry a woman from her Westfield home after it was surrounded by flood waters.
