The man who allegedly caused a wreck on September 27th that involved 5 vehicles and seriously injured several motorists, has been charged. Gabriel A. Biddle reportedly had a blood alcohol content of .52 (the legal limit in Indiana is .08) when he was tested following the crash. According to The Journal Gazette, on the afternoon of the wreck, employees at Grabill Bank in Leo-Cedarville helped Biddle change a flat tire on a Toyota Corolla. Someone at the bank called 911 to report that Biddle was driving away and “may be intoxicated,” court papers stated. Allen County dispatchers relayed that report to officers in the area. Three minutes later, Fort Wayne police were called to a crash involving that same Corolla and five other vehicles at Maplecrest and Evard roads. One of the victims was trapped after the crash and had to be freed by rescuers. She was taken to Parkview in critical condition with broken bones and bruising. At least one other driver was also hospitalized. Biddle was charged Friday with two counts of OWI causing serious bodily injury, two counts of OWI and five counts of criminal recklessness. According to court records, Biddle had a prior drunk driving conviction back in 2006 and January.
