Warsaw Police are no longer looking for 22-year-old James Kern after it was believed that Kern, of Cromwell IN, was injured in a meth lab explosion at the Days Inn on 2575 E. Center Street in Warsaw,

He’s been found and doesn't have any injuries. It also doesn't appear that he was even present during the explosion.

Saturday, March 16th, just before 6:00 p.m., Warsaw City Police were called to the Days Inn for smoke coming from a room; what was found was a fire in a bathroom as a result of an explosion.

The bathroom door was blown off its hinges and the ceiling in the room and a nearby room had fallen down because of the explosion.

No one was found in the room, but calls to dispatch led to 36-year-old Paul Luna of Ligonier. Police find him nearby suffering from severe burns to his arms and head. He was flown by helicopter to a local burn unit.

At the scene, Luna provided information that another person was in the room when the explosion happened, leading police to look for Kern, but Warsaw police have found him and they don’t think he was even at the Days Inn when the explosion happened.

It is believed that the explosion was a result of a one (1) pot meth lab, but investigation into the actual cause is under way by the Warsaw Police Drug/Narcotics Taskforce and the Indiana State Police.

In the meantime, the investigation is ongoing.
