INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The National Weather Service confirms a weak tornado struck west of Indianapolis and caused minor damage.

The weather service say an EF0 tornado with winds up to 85 mph struck about 2:40 a.m. Tuesday near the town of North Salem, about 20 miles west of Indianapolis. It toppled trees, snapped limbs, and damaged a barn.

The tornado was part of a large line of storms that swept across central Indiana causing sporadic damage in many areas.

The weather service says a survey also shows two separate paths of straight-line winds near where the tornado struck.

  No injuries have been reported.

Indiana utilities reported more than 28,000 customers lost power before dawn Tuesday, largely in the Indianapolis area and from Terre Haute to Bloomington.
