Kokomo Hospital Plans on Cutting 50 Jobs Created by kblakeslee on 9/17/2013 3:09:19 PM
KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) _ Employees at another central Indiana hospital are facing job cuts.
Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo says it will reduce its current workforce by 50 positions over the next few weeks.
The Kokomo Tribune reports that the job cuts represent about 4 percent of the some 1,300 employees at the hospital.
Community Howard president Jim Alender says the job cuts are needed because of fewer patients being hospitalized, uncertainty with the federal health care overhaul and reductions in Medicare and private insurance reimbursement.
Indiana University Health announced last week it was cutting about 800 jobs at its Indianapolis-area hospitals and those in Muncie and Tipton.
