INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A 22-year-old Gary man accused of shooting an Indianapolis police officer has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and carrying a handgun without a license.
The Indianapolis Star reports Charles Williams entered the plea Tuesday in Marion Superior Court.
Authorities said Williams wounded Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Gregory Stevens in a leg on Sept. 24 at an apartment complex on the city's east side.
The shooting occurred four days after IMPD officer Rod Bradway was killed by a man who police say had been holding a woman at gunpoint.
Stevens has been released from a hospital.
Williams is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Marion County Jail.
