MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Ball State University's police department is trying to determine who may have sparked Friday's partial campus lockdown by repeatedly shouting "gun!" in a campus building.
Ball State spokesman Tony Proudfoot says campus police are working to determine who yelled about the gun. He says if it was done as a prank, "it certainly is irresponsible."
Proudfoot says if officials find the person or persons responsible, they could face both university discipline and the possibility of criminal charges if it was a prank.
Ball State was partially locked down for three hours Friday after several witnesses reported hearing someone repeatedly shout "gun!" in the Recreation and Wellness Building's third-floor running track. A search of several buildings turned up no sign of a weapon.
