Concert Venue Proposed for Indianapolis Site Created by kblakeslee on 1/28/2014 1:08:10 PM
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A large outdoor concert amphitheater is among the proposals being made for the site of a closed General Motors metal-stamping plant near downtown Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis Business Journal and The Indianapolis Star report the amphitheater is among four redevelopment plans being considered by the trust that's overseeing clean up and sale of the 102-acre site.
Deputy Mayor Deron Kintner says the venue's size and other components were still being worked out.
The new venue would compete with the 24,000-seat Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville and the 7,500-seat amphitheater in the nearby White River State Park.
State park director Robert Whitt says he's worried about the additional competition driving up fees it must pay to performers.
