WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ The mayor of West Lafayette says he doesn't expect its offices will ever return to the City Hall that was vacated in January because of mold problems.

Mayor John Dennis says he's still waiting on final reports but believes it will likely be too expensive to remove the mold and make repairs to the building. Dennis tells the Journal & Courier that would be a waste of taxpayer money.

A contractor started investigating the building when mold was spotted following water damage in January caused by ruptured water pipes. That prompted the city to move offices from the building to temporary locations.

City facilities director Tim Clark says the contractor has found water is seeping into the basement through the concrete.
