BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Indiana University has placed its associate dean of students on administrative leave amid allegations he sexually assaulted a woman in Texas during a December conference.
IU spokesman Mark Land tells The Herald-Times Jason Casares is now on paid administrative leave. Land says IU is conducting its own investigation.
A statement from Casares’ attorney says his client “categorically denies” the allegations. Casares is IU’s associate dean of students, the school’s Title IX coordinator and also heads its student ethics office.
The woman alleges that Casares sexually assaulted her in December at a conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fort Worth Police Department Sgt. Steve Enright says the incident was reported Dec. 9 and is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
