WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Purdue University President Mitch Daniels says he isn't surprised that he likely won't receive all the incentive pay that's included in his contract.
The former Indiana governor's contract with Purdue gives him a $420,000 annual base salary. He can also receive 30 percent more, or $126,000, based on factors such as graduation rates, student affordability and fundraising.
Daniels tells WLFI-TV he believes fundraising is a particularly important area for improvement. He says the student tuition freeze that started last year means Purdue has to try to fill that revenue gap.
Daniels says Purdue also needs to do better on tracking how much students learn during their time at the school.
The university trustees are expected to decide on Daniels' incentive pay this month.
