Tighter Indiana Rules Being Sought on E-Cigarettes

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana's attorney general and state lawmakers are expected to propose tighter regulations and new taxes on electronic cigarettes in a bill that the General Assembly will consider during the session that begins next week.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller has scheduled a Friday afternoon news conference with lawmakers and others to announce legislation addressing the rise in e-cigarette use among youths.

The sale of e-cigarettes to those younger than 18 is already illegal in Indiana, but Zoeller is concerned the federal government hasn't done enough to regulate the battery-powered devices that allows users to inhale nicotine.
