Indianapolis Police Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Man

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis police say officers have shot and killed a knife-wielding man after he didn't comply with their orders to drop the weapon.

Police say Kent Norman of Indianapolis was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting Saturday at a home on the city's east side. His age was not provided.

Officers were dispatched to the home on a report of a disturbance and confronted Norman inside. Police spokesman Officer Chris Wilburn says the man came toward officers and they felt their lives were in danger when they shot him. 

The number of officers involved wasn't clear. No officers were injured. Those involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.

Indianapolis police also shot and killed a suspect one other time this year, on Jan. 15.
