City, Agency Respond to Weather Shelter Needs

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WOWO): The city of Fort Wayne and social service agencies are teaming up to provide shelter and resources in adverse weather.

Mayor Tom Henry and officials with the Salvation Army, Rescue Mission, United Way, Park Center and Just Neighbors have reached an agreement to share resources.

Under the plan, the city will coordinate an emergency shelter plan for weather conditions include below zero temperatures and wind chills. 


The Salvation Army will administer a shelter, with the Rescue Mission providing additional space. The other agencies will partner for other resources.

The program is also assisted by state and federal grants.
