EACS Officials Detail Disrepair at Schools

MONROEVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): There's a lot riding on the $74-million referendum East Allen County Schools officials are pitching to the public.

A community meeting held Thursday night at Heritage Junior/Senior High School revealed some unsettling details, like rickety, poor setup of the high school's press box, stadium bleachers that barely pass inspection, terrible bathroom conditions, and faulty air conditioning throughout the building.

The Journal Gazette reports that about 75 people attended the meeting, which was the first of five set to inform the public about why the EACS says the referendum – which would raise home taxes an estimated $23 per $100,000 value – needs to be approved.
