FWPD Officer Suspended for Attempting Hourly and Sick Leave Pay

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne police officer has been suspended for arriving late to work, as well as receiving both hourly and sick-leave pay.

Officer Joushua Franciscy violated the department's employment policy and was given a three-day unpaid suspension on Thursday.

Police Chief Garry Hamilton told the Journal Gazette the department's internal affairs division began looking at the case in December.

Franciscy wasn't at another job when he called in sick. He filled in for another officer who also called for a sick day.

Franciscy called-in sick and was working for that officer, even though he said he would not report to work.

Since Fransiscy was on the clock, he violated company policy for receiving both hourly and sick-leave pay for that particular day.
