FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County’s in the middle of the pack when it comes to the healthiest counties in Indiana.
The problem is, it should be in the top 10, according to Allen County Health Commissioner Dr. Deborah McMahan. She tells the Journal Gazette the ranking in the annual Robert Wood Johnson Foundation study is disappointing, as the County has the talent and resources that should make it much healthier when it comes to how long people live and how healthy they feel while alive.
This year Allen County ranks 47th, which is three spots lower than last year. To compare, Adams County is 17th, Whitley County is 14th, and Steuben County is 16th.
Factors like clinical care, health behaviors, and physical environment are counted in the study, which you can read for yourself here.
