FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Time out of school during recent winter storms, will mean student will see their summer recess delayed.

Northwest Allen County officials say right now the school year will extend at least till June 3. At this time, graduation, scheduled for June 8, will not change.

The district applied for a waiver that would allow two days of cancellations to be excused. The results of that decision are pending review by the state.

Fort Wayne Community Schools officials announced their calendar is extended to June 5.

By law, schools are required to be in session 180 days per year.
