Chief: Camera captured officer’s confrontation

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Bloomington's police chief says a body camera captured an officer's confrontation and exchange of gunfire with two men accused of raping two female Indiana University students.

Chief Mike Diekhoff says Officer William Abram's department-issued body-worn camera recorded the entire Nov. 9 episode, providing what he called great evidence in the case.

Diekhoff said Friday “the suspects shot at him, and it recorded his response to those actions and those threats.”

The Herald-Times reports Vaylen Glazebrook was shot in the arm and Michael Deweese was hit in the leg when Abram fired at them as they fled the two victims' apartment near campus.

Both men are being held on preliminary charges, including attempted murder, rape and burglary with a weapon.
