FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s Riverfront Development project cleared a big hurdle Tuesday night.

The Fort Wayne City Council officially approved the distribution of $10 million from the city’s Legacy Fund for Phase One of the development. Ron Dick of Design Collaborative talks about what comes next:

“Our intent is in the first quarter of the year, to finish up the construction documents. As the construction manager comes on-board, (they’ll) really help us focus in on the costs of the project in the next several months.”

The resolution passed with two “no” votes. One of them was Councilman Jason Arp:

“I had several concerns,” Arp said. “One of those concerns was about the transparency of the costs of this project.”

Mayor Tom Henry made the funding request back in October. Phase One focuses on the south and north sides of the St. Mary’s River between Harrison Street and the Wells Street Bridge, including a park, educational water feature, promenade, and children’s play area.
