Health Care Providers Working to Meet Needs of Displaced Pain Patients

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): When embattled Fort Wayne pain doctor William Hedrick closed shop last month it left patients with out doctors.

Hedrick's license was suspended after numerous patients died under his care.

The Allen County Department of Health and other professionals are  working to place them. 
Officials say the transition to new doctors could take a little time, because state laws applying to prescribing pain medicine and treatment can be strict, including diagnosis and monitoring of patients. 
There are some short-term solutions are place in until patients are connected with the new doctors.
