Hearing Set for Suspect in Purdue Shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A court hearing has been scheduled for a Purdue University student who police say fatally shot another student in a basement classroom.

Tippecanoe County Deputy Prosecutor Kristen McVey says in a statement that an initial hearing for 23-year-old Cody Cousins will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in a courtroom at the county jail.

Cousins is being held without bond on a preliminary charge of murder in Tuesday's shooting death of 21-year-old Andrew Boldt of West Bend, Wis., in a basement classroom at Purdue's Electrical Engineering Building.

Police say they haven't determined a motive for the slaying.

Past teachers described both Cousins and Boldt as talented students.
