UPDATE: Hartford City Shooting Victims Identified

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (AP) _ Hartford City's police chief has identified the two victims shot to death in that eastern Indiana community.

Chief Scott Mealy issued a news release Friday identifying the victims as 40-year-old Shane P. Williamson and his 14-year-old daughter, both of Hartford City. Mealy did not provide the girl's name.

Mealy also says a person of interest is being held in nearby Jay County in connections with the shootings.

Authorities say they found Williamson dead of an apparent gunshot wound in the head in a parking lot outside an apartment building. The girl, also shot in the head, was found later in their apartment.

Autopsies were planned Friday at the Northeast Indiana Forensics Center in Fort Wayne.

Mealy has said the shootings were not random acts of violence.
