Supporters of Animal Welfare Raise Awareness in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS Ind. (WOWO): Animal welfare supporters are speaking up in Indianapolis today to discuss the rights of animals on modern-day farms.

It's part of World Day for Farmed Animals that looks to raise awareness about the suffering of animals that are raised for food. Many supporters of PETA will be at today's event as well as animal-outreach organizations that function out of public universities throughout the state.

According to the Citizens Action Coalition Education Fund, more than half of Indiana's 92 counties are home to at least one factory farm. Hoosiers are encouraged to think about their decisions at the dinner-table, and bring awareness to the treatment of animals that are raised for food.
