FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Construction on the Parkview Cancer Institute in Fort Wayne hit a milestone Wednesday.

A special “topping out” ceremony, which saw the final steel beam of the building’s structure get fitted into place, included prayer, songs from a choir, and more festivities, according to the Journal Gazette.

The $100-million, 175,000-square-foot facility is being built near the existing Parkview Regional Medical Center on East Dupont Road.

The cancer center’s president, Dr. Neil Sharma, promised the new facility will let caregivers “collaborate with patients” in a different way.

It’ll also include unfinished spaces for possible future expansions.
