Mid-America Windmill Museum Seeks Donations to Fix Machines

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (AP): The Mid-America Windmill Museum in Kendallville is seeking donations to restore its 53 machines before they completely break down.

The News-Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1ISjzDD ) the museum has the nation's largest collection of historic windmills east of the Mississippi River. However, museum President Christine Howard says more than half of them are in various states of disrepair, and it has hired an expert to spend three days per week repairing them.

Museum board member Tom Burke says the attraction as received a $50,000 matching grant that could double the size of donations. He says gifts of at least $1,000 will be rewarded with a placard on a windmill with the donor's name.
