Mississippi Man Gets 45 years in MIami County Woman’s 1992 Death

PERU, Ind. (AP) _ A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in the 1992 killing of an Indiana woman in her mobile home.

Timothy Jimerson was sentenced Thursday after he was found guilty last month of voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon in the death of 27-year-old Toni Spicer. In 2011, DNA testing on a single strand of hair found on Spicer's naked body linked Jimerson to the killing.

The Kokomo Tribune reports that Jimerson told Indiana State Police detectives in 2012 that he had killed Spicer. But he maintained his innocence during the hearing Thursday in Miami County Circuit Court.

Spicer was beaten and strangled. Her two children found her tied to her bed with pantyhose on Aug. 29, 1992.
