Elementary student found with gun at Perry Hill

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – A student was found with a gun at Perry Hill Elementary School on Wednesday.

North Allen Community Schools Superintendent Wayne Barker called it a “serious offense,” and the student has been suspended, pending expulsion.

Around 1:40 p.m., a student reported finding a bullet on the playground. A teacher witnessed a student acting suspicious, and notified a school resource officer, who contacted additional law enforcement.

Barker said there will be an increased police presence at the school Thursday. Students will also undergo “age-appropriate” lessons within individual classrooms.
