Men in Wabash County Charged with Jacklighting Deer

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Two men have been charged for spotlighting deer with firearms in their vehicles in Wabash County. The two men are from Grant County and were charged after jacklighting deer on Sunday near the Mississinewa Reservoir.

26-year-old Jacob Gibson and 25-year-old Cody Terry had guns and bows in their vehicle. There were also two high powered spot lights that were used to shine artificial light on the deer.

Even though shining a spotlight from a vehicle in search of wildlife is not illegal, it becomes a crime if the driver or passenger is in possession of a gun or bow. According to a press release, officers are out to strictly enforce the laws during deer season to catch those try to poach the deer.
