Rescue Mission Preparing Thanksgiving Meal for Needy

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A small army of volunteers and thousands of pounds food are being assembled for a local tradition.

The Rescue Mission is preparing to feed thousands of people through their annual Thanksgiving dinner. 

Officials with the Mission say they expect to serve anywhere from two to three thousand people. 

This year’s hearty, home style dinner will consist of oven roasted turkey and gravy (3000 pounds), green beans (700 pounds), garlic mashed potatoes (700 pounds), stuffing (400 pounds), cranberry salad (100 pounds), dinner rolls (3000) and assorted pies (350).

The meal is provided free of charge and open to the public at The Rescue Mission (301 W. Superior Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802).
