INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (WOWO): Indiana Senator Dan Coats is connecting with other Republican leaders to end mobile phone service under the lifeline program.
Coats says it’s another example of a well-intentioned program that has grown out control because of poor implementation. Coats says he will “continue to push Congress and Obama administration” to examine every federal program.
The free-cell phone program costs about $2.2 billion dollars per year. The Wall Street Journal revealed an FCC study that disclosed 41 percent of subscribers can’t validate eligibility or they simply didn’t respond to requests for certification.
