NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) _ A New Castle man who was drafted by the Army to fight in World War II during his senior year in high school has received his diploma nearly seven decades later.

Frank Pfenninger was the only one of nine children in his family who lacked a diploma. Pfenninger tells The Courier-Times he never worried about not having it as he worked at Chrysler for 38 years after the war.
 
But family members wanted him to have a diploma and worked with former New Castle school administrator Beverly Hankenhoff to get one. He received the diploma last week.
 
Now the 88-year-old Pfenninger is gearing up for another honor. He'll be introduced as one of the graduates from the 1940s during ceremonies at New Castle's homecoming festivities next month.
