ANDERSON, Ind. (WOWO): A judge has decided that a central Indiana teen charged with sexually attacking a 93-year-old woman is incompetent to stand trial.
Madison County Judge Thomas Newman issued the ruling during a hearing Wednesday after two mental health experts disagreed on whether the 17-year-old boy was mentally competent to assist in his own defense.
The teen faces burglary, criminal deviate conduct, and other charges for the July 16 attack on the woman in her Anderson home. He was arrested five weeks later.
The teen is being sent to a state psychiatric facility and will stay there until he is deemed competent to stand trial.
A trial scheduled for November on the charges has been postponed indefinitely.
