AG Warns Hoosiers about Home Security Scam

INDIANA, (WOWO):  Another scam is targeting Hoosiers, and this one is hitting close to home. Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says there's a growing number of calls and door-to-door solicitation for home security and alarm systems.

More than 150 complaints have been recently filed with the Attorney General’s office by people who have received the unwanted home security sales pitches either over the phone or from a knock at the door.

Zoeller warns that sales people will use high pressure or deceptive sales tactics often used by scammers to convince you to buy an expensive alarm system. They may also try to offer you free security systems or tell you that your current company has gone out of business, or use scare tactics by telling you about a rash of burglaries in your neighborhood.
