INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Officials of the Indianapolis-based American Legion spoke out about the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. American Legion Deputy Legislative Director Ian DePlanque says it’s the first step in reforming practices at the agency’s medical facilities across the nation.

This all follows accusations that officials at various VA hospitals faked waiting lists and covered up long delays in appointments for thousands of vets among other infractions. DePlanque says the first step toward reform should involve transparency and accurate reporting by the VA. He says the “lying and false information on reports” must stop immediately.
