UPDATE: Possible Drowning In Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Conservation Officers along with the Kentland Fire Department are still looking for a missing man on JC Murphy Lake. Officers say they will continue searching Sunday night and begin again Monday morning.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Conservation Officers are still searching for a man at JC Murphy Lake at Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area.

Around 7 p.m. on Saturday night, 24 year old Saul Lopez of Hammond and a friend were floating on a rubber raft when it started to deflate.  They tried to row to shore, but it wasn't getting them to the shore quick enough.  Lopez then got into the water in hopes to push the boat, but quickly went under water and never resurfaced.

Officers and firemen will continue to search the area this morning.  They say there were no life jackets on board the raft at the time of the incident.
