Poll Sites Close in Indiana for Midterm Elections

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Poll sites have closed in Indiana for an Election Day during which voters are deciding whether Republicans will maintain their strong control of state government.

Voting sites were open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time across Indiana. However, voters in line to vote when closing time arrived generally were allowed to cast their ballots.

Tuesday's ballots included the three statewide offices of secretary of state, auditor and treasurer. GOP candidates are looking to keep all those offices even though three Republicans elected to those offices four years ago all either resigned before their terms were up or were forced out.

General Assembly seats and county offices such as prosecutors, sheriffs and commissioners were also on the ballots.
