GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) – Goshen College has received one of the largest one-time donations in its history from a former student who was unable to graduate.

Ninety-three-year-old Milo Albrecht of Morton, Illinois, has gifted the school with $1.98 million after decades of frequently contributing smaller amounts. A press release says the school plans to use the money to help support scholarships, particularly those for nursing students.

Goshen College President Jim Brenneman says the donation has been invested in an endowment. He says it will allow the dreams of many students to come true.

The Elkhart Truth reports Albrecht attended the school for three semesters beginning in 1939 until he moved home to help on the family farm. He began donating to Goshen College in 1962, after working as a machinery instructor in Poland and starting to work on his own farm.
