Local Woman Charged with Welfare Fraud

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman is facing felony charges for welfare fraud.

The Journal Gazette reports that 35-year-old Nicole Griffiths collected more than $25,000 in food stamps she wasn't entitled to. The bulk of that happened between November 2011 and June of 2014, when her household made more than $40,000 a year, according to the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.

Her husband allegedly lied to an investigator and said that while he earned that salary, he didn't live with Griffiths at the time. There's a warrant out for her arrest.
