Elderly woman who died in small house fire has been identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The elderly woman was found in a home after a fire late Tuesday morning has been identified.

Nancy Topp, 66, died from thermal burns because of the fire inside the house at 2721 Clara Avenue, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Topp’s family checked on her about 11 a.m. Tuesday and they called 911 when they noticed the windows were covered with soot.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Chief Adam O’Connor said a small fire burned inside the house overnight but that it was already out when firefighters arrived at the home.

The outside of the house was not damaged.
