FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council will take a vote on what to do with the city’s trash service contractor tonight.

The City has received thousands of complaints, ranging from missed pickups to property damage, since Red River Waste Solutions took over on January 1st. Tonight’s Council agenda includes a vote on a nonbinding resolution from Councilman Russ Jehl to hold Red River in breach of contract.

If it passes, it wouldn’t force Mayor Tom Henry’s hand – Henry himself has said he doesn’t think the contractor has crossed that line just yet – but supporters of the measure say it would get things moving toward a resolution.

Red River has been fined more than $157,000 since the beginning of the year.
